Survival Skills & Co. sells the best products that we have personally
used in real emergencies
.  Our Disaster Kits contain supplies that are currently
up to date with the latest protocols in first aid. Be very cautious of companies trying to
sell you kits that contain products that have been out of protocol for over 3 years. The
following, is a list of those items:
Hydrogen Peroxide, Alcohol, Ammonia Inhalants,
Butterfly bandages, Syrup of Ipecac.

Here is why. Peroxide increases bacteria growth, damages tissue, slows healing.
Alcohol damages tissue. Ammonia Inhalants can cause allergic reactions, difficulty
breathing. Butterflies can close in the bacteria to increase infection. Syrup of Ipecac
induces vomiting which can be aspirated into the lungs.

This kit includes the same items carried on our fire truck.

dressings, 8 4x4 gauze pads, 2 triangular dressings, 2 rolls of
gauze, 1 12" arm splint, 1 cold pack, 24 oz. of sterile water, 1

1 paramedic scissors, 1 tweezers, 1 2x6 burn gel dressing,
2 antimicrobial wipes, 15 antiseptic wipes, 2 pr. vinyl gloves,
1st aid guide.

When prioritizing Emergency Supplies, the priority should always be first aid. In a major
disaster such as an earthquake there is nothing more important than caring
immediately for the injured. See our
Disaster Supply Guidelines.

Food can wait, water can wait. The injuries won't. In most emergencies serious injuries
present themselves immediately. You must be able to care for them at once.
Remember, the disaster supplies should be able to treat both the serious and the
minor. Also keep in mind the supplies should match the level of training of the rescuers.

Stretchers are also a top priority. This is one item sites never have enough of in supply. To
move the injured safely and efficiently in an emergency, stretchers are a must. The
LifeLite
is our recommendation for an affordable, lightweight, and strong stretcher that can be
disinfected between carries. Its' unique design allows up to ten rescuers to carry a victim as
heavy as 500 lbs. We suggest 2 stretchers for every 150 persons at your site.
"Burn Free" burn gel products
Whether you choose the gel bottle for the small burns or the sterile dressings you will be
getting the best treatment today for burns. The foam cell dressings will not stick to burns
thereby reducing trauma, the gel cools faster than water yet because it does not evaporate
it prevents hypothermia in the patient. Pain is significantly reduced because of the cooling of
the gel and dressing preventing air to the burn.

Also works great on road rash and all size abrasions.
